I discovered
Sugar Stories"
some time ago. (On somebody else's site. Sorry for not giving you credit. I can't remember
where!!!!) I was AMAZED to see an entire Black gay
culture happening in FRENCH!!! Aside from the men being BEAUTIFUL, CUTE and
SEXY, "
Sugar Stories" tells a pretty solid, intriguing and FUN story. I'm
not reviewing here, but I can just say that I have thoroughly enjoyed
this series which has been broken down into seasons. Or, as the French
would say: "
Saison." Most intriguing, as a comic strip artist, is the
fact the stories are live action but set up like comic book panels.
What fun!!! Unfortunately, folks, most of "saison two" is in French.
But, you can kind of follow along with the PICTURES. I'm just happy to see
something so unique featuring all of these beautiful black brothas and
other gay men of another culture. The shallow side of me would talk about the boys,
cute outfits, tight jeans, bulging packages and plunging necklines, but
Sugar Stories is a
lot of fun that takes itself seriously. Get "saison" two into English, folks,
so that I'll know what's going on!!! And, just like Saison one, there's
a
new mystery to be solved!!! And, they're also on Facebook --- in FRENCH!!!

oh my god this is amazing! why? because the other day I was just thinking of how crazy it would be someone made a tv show that looked like a comic book..and holy moly...someone made a live action comic book. So close enough. wow.

I absolutely LOVE "Sugar Stories" and I've been meaning to write about it for a long time. Sorry for the delay. Please feel free to direct people to my posting. I would love it. And, I'm looking forward to reading more. I checked out your FB page a little while ago and was just thrilled to see all of this new material. French or English, I will still follow it.
Thank you for your great piece about Sugar Stories - Jan is currently updating English translations of all of the episodes to date of the current season, Season 2, which I'm translating into English in collaboration with him. (Jan is the photographer of Sugar Stories). I just discovered it a month ago through an article about it in 'Le Monde' and I've been hooked on Sugar Stories ever since.
Thanks Vic for your great piece about Sugar Stories. Jan is now updating lots more Season 2 episodes in English and all episodes published to date in French will soon also be available in English. It's a great series.
