Calvin Klein

Okay. So, why is it that Calvin Klein has this hot little campaign out featuring some famous hot people and the only one I keep hearing about is Kellan Lutz? Yeah, Kellan who plays Emmett Cullen from the Twilight movies is mega hot, but so is Mechad Brooks from True Blood. I'd ask you to decide, but my mind is already made up --- MORE MECHAD!!!! I found these pics over at one of my favorite sites: Black.

Doctor Who -- SPOILER

This entry is just one big SPOILER ALERT for fans of Doctor Who. This picture is one gigantic culmination of the Doctor Who universe --- at least, the one I know, which is the new Doctor Who. This pic is from The Stolen Earth, the end of season 4, where everything boiled to a head and it just became too utterly fabulous and the Doctor Who universe exploded and it was biggest, most incredible cross-over. Eventually, I believe, based upon The Doctor Who Specials, this is the last time we'll see any of these characters, especially together, ever, ever, ever again. (Sob!) There's a new Doctor coming and I'm very optimistic. But, I will forever miss the David Tennant -- Doctor. Really. It just breaks my heart. I got the Doctor Who - Specials DVD today and it shows David Tennant just ... walking away. He's giving BACK!!!! I got teary-eyed. I'm SO sappy. Really. Without mention, I love, love, loved the Christopher Eccelston Doctor Who, who was a pleasant surprise to me. Doctor Who was always there in the background of my childhood, on PBS, this bizarre little show with HORRIBLE, low-budget "special effects." I was just clicking by on the TV. (Do any of you remember how you used to have to actually get UP to change the channel? When the TV remote came along my Auntie called it a "clicker.") I remember the curly hair and rainbow scarf Doctor Who. It was creepy ... but, fascinating. So, when I was onboard with the new Doctor, it wasn't until the fourth season with my beloved Catherine Tate (an incredible, INCREDIBLE talent). I can't believe I never saw this show in order!!!! When Torchwood came along (the "spin-off") I decided I wanted to catch it from the beginning since I was so far behind on Doctor Who. And, I fell in love with them. Doctor Who, just like Brenda Starr and the Negros, are projects for this blog that are just TOO much for me to take lightly. So, I'll just say that I will really miss David Tennant with all of my heart. I will miss Rose Tyler. Jackie. Martha Jones. Micky Smith. And, especially, Donna Noble. Especially. I wanted more in The Specials, but I think that's the way it was supposed to be. The great news of Torchwood returning means --- Captain Jack is returning. (Even though, I'm still mad at him after "Children of the Earth.) I'm SO happy to hear that Sarah Jane (Adventures) has a third season which features David Tennant as The Doctor. Whew! Annnnd, if you didn't catch it in the extras, when Rose and The Doctor (who has one heart) went to the parallel universe, The Doctor gave him a plant, a Tardis of his own to grow, to protect that world, (because the Tardis is a living being) means that David Tennant can return at any time. Yea! So, be warned --- you will see just some arbitrary pictures of the Doctor Who series here. Be pleasantly warned.

Dr. Who & Torchwood from Tonner Dolls

Tonner Doll has FINALLY released pictures of the new Doctor Who and Torchwood dolls. These 16" dolls cost anywhere from $164 - $199. (Yikes!!!) The dolls use the likeness and actual outfits from David Tennant as The Doctor, Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones, John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness and Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper. I, personally, am excited and have been waiting awhile for the pictures to be released. The really cool thing about The Doctor is that he comes with a Sonic Screwdriver!!! (Yes --- geeking!!!) The only complaint I have is that The Doctor's coat is annoyingly sold separately for about $50!!! Well, that and the price of each doll. But, that's the great Tonner quality and unfortunately, the curse of the collectors market.

Lois Lane

I love Superman's girlfriend, Lois Lane. Everybody knows how the intrepid reporter for the Daily Planet who spent an eternity being in love with Superman and trying to prove that he was Clark Kent. Eventually, the story turned to love and Lois married Clark and then revealed that he was Superman. Their love story is one of the greatest romances around. I would probably be one of the last to promote heterosexual relationships, but I enjoy seeing Lois Lane and Superman as husband and wife. I'm glad they got married. DC Comics, amidst its ongoing chaos (mass superhero killings, resurrections, blood and violence, villains off the hook), decided to reboot Superman's origin -- once again. After The Crisis on Infinite Earths, everything was rebooted, folks were killed off (like Supergirl), universes disappeared into non-existence (like Earth-2) and things were supposedly streamlined and never the same again. Now, DC has to decided to make things complicated again and basically return the universe to where it began. In the current mini series, Superman - Secret Origin, Superboy existed and hung with the Legion of Superheroes, Krytpo the Superdog is back, and Lex Luthor is from Smallville. Honestly? I don't care. Personally? I'm enjoying the series. Gary Frank is an incredible artist. Once again, honestly? Just bring back Earth-2. It should have never disappeared to begin with. Especially, Huntress, the daughter of Batman and Catwoman. The JSA belongs there as well. I miss the JLA/JSA cross overs. But, that's another story.

And, I've always loved Lois Lane. She doesn't just get into trouble to be rescued by Superman. She gets into trouble because she's an incredible reporter, the best at the Daily Planet. She goes after the truth and believes in reporting it at any cost. Sometimes -- normally, she would find trouble. And, Superman would end up having to save her. After Lois married Clark, it was cute for awhile, made super-super-cool by Terri Hatcher and Dean Cain in "Lois and Clark - The New Adventures of Superman." But, after awhile, in the comics, it seemed as if Lois had just become Mrs. Superman. She stayed out of trouble, I guess, so he wouldn't worry about her. Jimmy Olsen got more action than her! In Secret Origin #3, Clark Kent meets Lois Lane and Lois Lane meets Superman for the first time.
SPOILER ALERT -- my opinions now!!! What I loved most about the Lois Lane reboot is that she's adventurous, clever and still fashionable and sexy about it. (Yes, I'm still a gay man about these things.) She's no slouch. She immediately recognizes Clark's bad suit, bad posture, bad glasses which overtake his face and the fact he wants to be underestimated. What's most interesting is that she doesn't treat him like a doormat, immediately recognizing him as an ally, her "wingman," already prepared to move over Bernstein and Woodward to make room for --- Lois and Clark. I'm a sucker for it, because what comes next is vintage Lois Lane using Clark Kent as a distraction just to get into Luthor Corp, climbing over a fence in a skirt and heels (which is where the sexy comes in), getting the story and then falling off a building while trying to escape. There's no denying it --- I love-love-LOVE about seeing Superman scooping Lois into his arms and flying away with her. (Fantasies of being rescued by a man? I don't know.) Hopefully, the stories involving Lois Lane will be adventurous again. I'm a sucker for a sexy adventure. I love seeing Lois get into trouble. I miss it!!!
